Race Scoring
The winner of each age group will receive 200 points. Each place behind the winner in the age group will receive 5 points less per place.
(ie. 1st- 200pts, 2nd- 195pts, 3rd- 190pts, 4th- 185pts, 5th- 180pts, 6th- 175pts…)
Age groups: 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39,40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74.
Series Scoring
Participants in the Iowa Championship Triathlon series and the Iowa Championship Swim Series will receive points for each completed race. We will use each participants top 3 race point totals added together to calculate the overall placement in the series.
All triathlon participants swim times will be used for the Swim Series scoring.
Series Scoring Example
A participant competes in 6 events in the series. Their placings are as follows
Pigman – 5th Place – 180pts
Omaha – 3rd Place – 190pts
Northwood – 2nd Place – 195pts
Des Moines – 7th Place – 170pts
Hero Hustle – 3rd Place 190pts
Iowa Games – 4th Place – 185pts
Using the top 3 placings we will not use the Des Moines Triathlon, Pigman Triathlon, or the Iowa Games points. Adding the rest of the race points to come up with a series total of 575 points.
Age group based upon date of last race in series will be used for the Series awards (individual race age group may differ and those points will be used)

Do all races Count
All Triathlons in the series generate points for the participants. We will only use the top 5 scoring triathlons to calculate the participants overall place.
Can I compete in both Triathlon and Swim Series
Yes, we will be using the times from all triathlon, aquabike, and swim only to populate the Swim Series participant scores. You do not need to sign up for the swim series to participate in it.
Do I have to Sign Up for the Iowa Triathlon Championship Series?
No, your participation in to any of the Iowa Triathlon Series races automatically enters you in to the Series
Are there awards for the Series?
Yes, there are awards for the top 3 men and women in each age group.
Does placing overall impact the point total
No, points are only based upon the age group placings. We will not pull out overall winners when scoring age groups.
